Wilsons Promontory National Park: Day 1

Me with four crimson rosellas (the green bird is a juvenile crimson rosella)

Today when we woke up, we headed straight to the Camp Manyung dining hall.  After a few pancakes and a bowl of cereal, my brother and I joined a group and tried the high ropes course.  It was cool how the course was built in the forest and supported by huge pine trees.  After the ropes course, we got in the RV and started driving again.  This time we didn't stop along the way, but drove down Wilsons Promontory, the peninsula southeast of Melbourne.
We arrived at Wilsons Promontory National Park in the early afternoon.  After finding a campsite to park our vehicle, my brother and I saw a duck and tried to feed it some seeds, but before we knew it, we were surrounded by a flock of crimson rosellas, colorful birds about a foot long that look like parakeets.  The birds ate out of our hands and landed on our arms, shoulders, and even heads.  When the birds left, we took a walk through the woods and onto a beach.  From the trail, we saw kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, and lots of birds.  When we got to the beach, the sun was just about to set over the Southern (Indian) Ocean.  The mountains and the orange sky looked so perfect, it could have been a stock computer wallpaper.  Today was another great day, and we're looking forward to another hike tomorrow.
